Founded in 1914, AIGA is the largest and oldest professional association for design. The mission of AIGA is to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force. AIGA, the professional association for design, stimulates thinking about design, demonstrates the value of design and empowers the success of designers at each stage of their careers.
The Tampa Bay chapter of AIGA | the professional association for design, was founded in 2006 and provides programs, events and benefits for students, professionals, corporations and the design community in general that span the realm of all design professions including, but not limited to: Advertising, Brand Strategy, Design Education, Design Management, Design Students, Environmental Graphic Design, Graphic Design, Information Graphics, Interactive Design, Motion Graphics, Package Design, Printing and Paper Industries, Research & Strategy, Sales & Marketing, Type Design, Sustainable Design and Web Design. The Tampa Bay chapter of AIGA is the professional design association benefiting the design community across Bradenton, Brandon, Clearwater, Dunedin, Lakeland, Largo, Riverview, Sarasota, Tampa and St. Petersburg and all students, professionals, corporations along the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Treasurer
The Treasurer works directly with the President and the rest of the Executive Committee in maintaining and overseeing the financial planning and stability of the Chapter and acting as advisor to ensure that programs and events are financially viable. The Treasurer must have very strong writing, grammar, editing and communication skills along with a penchant for detail, accuracy and follow through. The treasurer works with the Board to set and achieve long-term financial goals for the good of the organization and in alignment with the AIGA mission.
Secretary
The Secretary shall keep a correct and permanent record of the Chapter contact/phone list with the Membership Directory (online and print), while maintaining appropriate and accurate accounts and records of all Chapter activities, committees and chairpersons. The Secretary will also generate and manage correspondence, file reports and program summaries with the National office, the chapter and perform all duties that customarily pertain to the office of Secretary. The Secretary shall keep agenda records, documentation of meetings on file, records documentation/ summaries of events and activities. These records should be shared with the President, Vice President and available upon request. The Secretary must have very strong writing, grammar, editing and communication skills along with a penchant for detail, accuracy and follow through.
Programs and Events Committee Member
The Programs and Events Committee Member is responsible for working with the Programs and Events Director in the planning, coordinating and managing of the Chapter’s annual programs and calendar of events that reflects activities consistent with the AIGA mission and meets the needs of the chapter members and ensures their alignment with the local and national agenda while providing chapter members an outlet for involvement, engagement and community outreach.
Education Director
The Education Director is responsible for achieving the education agenda of AIGA through student and education-oriented programming and events. The Education Director will also work to establish a network of educators within the community and advance the visibility of and awareness for AIGA’s role among young professionals. The Education Director will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of student chapters and serve as a liaison to all institutions in regards to all design community issues. The Education Director shall work closely with the local Student Chapters and their Faculty Coordinators to develop appropriate programming and support for the Student Chapters. The Education Director must have strong writing, grammar, editing and communication skills along with a penchant for detail, accuracy and follow through. The Education Director is responsible for achieving the primary objectives of Student Events and Student Outreach through identifying potential programs/speakers/issues of interest.
Membership Director
The Membership Director oversees and manages and growth to ensure thriving membership of the AIGA Tampa Bay chapter and also encourage the involvement of all members. He/she shall achieve this by be well versed in the national and local benefits of being a member, providing guidance to the board on all aspects of membership, organizing the membership party and being present at other chapter events, and leading the development and implantation of membership initiatives. In essence, this is the indirect responsibility of every Board member, but the Membership Director leads any recruiting/membership drive initiatives. The Director does this primarily by maintaining tools and reports that assist with communicating to lapsing members and by creating and using tools that demonstrate the value of membership. The Membership Director is responsible for encouraging new memberships, as well as, helping with the needs of our existing membership. The Membership Director will develop and oversee strategies and initiatives for Chapter growth communicate benefits of AIGA membership and must have very strong writing, grammar, editing and communication skills along with a penchant for detail, accuracy and follow through. Sponsorship Director
The Sponsorship Director is responsible for identifying, contacting, soliciting and securing potential, printing, paper, goods and services, cash and in-kind donors for AIGA Tampa bay events and programs. In addition to standard board responsibilities and privileges, the sponsorship director is responsible for overseeing the development of partnerships with area businesses and maintaining partner relationships once established. Partnerships include: annual partnerships, event partnerships, resource partnerships and in-kind donations of goods or services. The partnerships the Board members create strengthen the Chapter, the greater design community and our local businesses. The Sponsorhip Director must have very strong interpersonal communications skills, writing, grammar, editing and negotiation skills along with a penchant for detail, accuracy and follow through.
